QTII will establish a RESEARCH
department (est. in 2004-05) to explore existing research and consult with
recognized experts to determine
(1) what the problems are that
hinder effective teaching;
(2) what the characteristics are that comprise an
effective teacher; and
(3) what teaching methodologies are proposed and
which ones have been tested to most effectively enhance teaching quality.
At a
later time (est. 2005 or 2006), the Research Division will sponsor
QTII-specific studies to determine the effectiveness of the QTII standards,
and to incorporate the results of this research into QTII operations. The
Research Division will also be the principal actor in sponsoring nationwide
symposia. These symposia will be for effective teaching standards and for
establishing core competencies in various academic disciplines.
